Weekly Photo – The Beach in Salinas Ecuador

Posted in: Ecuador Travel

As a family, our favorite place on the coast (so far) is Salinas. Although it is technically a city, it really is just a town with a ton of vacation condos. It feels very safe and the beach is beautiful. There are polite food/souvenir vendors, the beach is clean and the water is warm. What else could you wish for?

A while ago, we published a video of the beach in Salinas. Have you been there? Is it your favorite as well?

Hi, I have a villa in Salinas in Sevilla 1. We are going early January to Ecuador and put it on the market.
For information you can write to me. But I am not going to be able to show the house until mid January.
    Regards,
    Rebeca.

Goa beaches almost like that except tall buildings.
    Thanks for sharing.

Seriously contemplating a move at some point. I will be able to have a steady monthly income of $1738.00 per month. I don’t know if that will sustain me as a single person with really no assets.

Hi Deborrah – hard to say, really depends on your lifestyle. Many expats live on $1000 or less as a couple or even as a family. There will be some start-up costs that you should plan for.

I had the same questions about costs of living. I saw another related link concerning start up costs. The approx 8K start up figure was great information. my wife and I are toying with the idea of living 3 months abroad to get away from the Chicago snow but not buying property. How do we approach renting in Jan/Feb/March in Salinas? Can we rent close to the beach?

Hi Sylvester – good questions. Aside from being on the ground here – you can either contact a realtor or find an online listing site. We’ve had good success with short term rentals (one to two weeks). For just 3 months, you’ll obviously pay a higher rate, but should be able to find something. There are a couple dozen apt buildings right on the beach in Salinas – shouldn’t be hard to find a great one. Sorry I can’t offer more.
