While we were getting Ecuadorian residency, it was really hard. It took a long time and there was a mountain of paperwork. On top of all this, we had to go to Canada out of the blue. This was actually okay with me :).
Why Did We “Have” To Go To Canada?
We needed to get our updated police report. We could have gotten it in the mail, but our visa was running out and we didn’t have time. So we went back to Canada.
I was sooo excited! I hadn’t been home in 2 years and I was starting to miss it. It was a trip of 24 hours and 4 flights. But it was nice. The longest flights had video games and TV which kept me occupied. On one of the flights, I watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2, Roderick Rules. That is a really, really funny movie, I would recommend it!
The other flights had TV too, but they weren’t personal ones. A bit of advice: bring a book to read on the plane, or maybe two. See how many you can read in a day, read-a-thons rock!
But the trip was really worth it! I got to see all my family and friends. I got to enjoy my grandparent’s backyard (and their blueberries). It was good to be back.
But, at the same time, I was getting home sick for Ecuador. That’s when I realized that home is where your heart is, where you are happy. And yes, I was happy to go back for a visit. But I don’t want to move back. I am really happy to live here in Ecuador.
When we got home to Ecuador, I was so happy. I ran into my room and flopped on my bed. Ahhh my bed! After, we went to pick up my dog Chica. I think she was as happy to see me as I was to see her. She went wild! She jumped all over me; I had a hard time stopping her from licking my face. Yuk!
So I guess it all turned out pretty well. We got to go back to Canada, and come back to live here in Ecuador. I have to admit; sometimes I do miss life in Canada, especially my backyard. I loved running around back there, stuffing my mouth full of blueberries, doing summersaults, and climbing trees. But I know that if I moved back to Canada – I would miss life here in Ecuador.
Thank you for reading and happy travels!
